"I hope I get ____" We've all said something like it at one point or another. We've all wanted something so badly that we hope for it. But what does that even mean?
Dictionary.com says this: "To desire with the expectation of getting or fulfilling"
According to this definition, Hope is about more than just wanting to something, it's about expecting to get it. So how then is Jesus hope? How does that work? Well Paul says this in Colossians 1:27-29
“Living within you is Christ, who floods you with the expectation of glory! This mystery of Christ, embedded within us, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for his people, and God wants everyone to know it! Christ is our message! We preach to awaken hearts and bring every person into the full understanding of truth, to present every believer the revelation of being his perfect one in Jesus Christ.”
This passage describes Christ as a treasure chest of hope, embedded within us. A hope that awakens our hearts and minds.
You don't have to wish or long for anything, because in Jesus every need will be met and fulfilled. Since Christ is in you, the potential to do whatever you want us already in you right now. It's just about accessing it.
Because of this hope, that's already inside of you, whatever you need, you already have. Jesus has already provided it.
Wether it's guidance in a situation at school, help navigating a relationship, or just someone to comfort you, He has done it. All you have to do is open up and accept it.
There are no hoops to jump through. Hope in Christ is a gift, all you have to do is accept it. And by doing that, we can help other people do the same thing. Just by trusting and hoping on Jesus, the people around you will see that your life is different somehow. By hoping in Jesus, you won't have to wish, because you'll already have everything you need, if you'll just open your heart and accept it.
